Dem-Master were delighted to assist the appointed Ecologist Team at the former Herdmanflat Hospital in Haddington.
It is very important that Ecology surveys are carried out for each project prior to disturbing buildings on our demolition sites to enable the detection of potential Bat Roosts.
Following the surveys being carried out, our Client worked with their appointed Ecologist to obtain the relevant Bat Licence which is required under the following legislation:
The Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) Regulations 1994 (as amended): Regulation 44 (2) (e).
The Dem-Master project team liaised with our Client and the Ecologists to coordinate our works, including carrying out the removal of Facia and soffit boards, which enabled the Ecologist to gain access into the area to locate the Bats.
We were thrilled that the two Soprano Pipistrelle Bats we found in the former “Mews” Buildings. The Bats were then carefully rehomed into the Bat Boxes which were installed and situated within the grounds of the site.
