The Dem-Master team have been busy over the recent months working at the Former Metropolitan Collage site in Glasgow, more commonly known as the Met Tower. Our Client is refurbishing the iconic, category B listed building and we’re proud to be involved in this high-profile project.

Our scope of work includes a full soft strip of the 14 storey tower, the breaking out of non-load bearing walls and the demolition of the adjacent Podium building. To ensure the safety of our team and the public, we will be deconstructing the Cathedral Street elevation of the Podium building, using encapsulated scaffolding. A footpath occupation will be in place on Cathedral street for the duration of this phase of the project.

To facilitate the removal of materials from each floor, we have various items of small plant in operation. The materials are being deposited via two external scaffold chutes, all to a designated area, ready for processing, recycling and reuse.

This project requires close liaison with many stakeholders such as our Client, Network Rail, Glasgow City Council and our Structural Engineers.
