Former Shell Tullos Office Complex, Aberdeen

Dem-Master is proud to have successfully completed the comprehensive deconstruction of the former Shell UK office complex at the Tullos site in Aberdeen. This ambitious 12-month project involved the safe and efficient removal of multiple interconnected buildings, requiring meticulous planning, advanced demolition techniques, and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The site presented a diverse range of structures, including:

  • Interlinked Office Buildings (Phases 1, 3, 4, & 5)
  • These varied from two to four-storey structures, each with complex basement levels and connecting corridors.
  • Phase 5 featured unique characteristics, including open upper levels and a large ground-floor kitchen/dining area, posing specific demolition challenges.
  • Standalone Buildings
  • A single-storey timber-framed Nursery.
  • A single-storey Laboratory building.
  • A two-storey Combined Services Building (CSB) with plant and office spaces.
  • Numerous smaller outbuildings scattered throughout the site.

Scope of Work

  • Asbestos Removal: Safe and compliant removal of all asbestos-containing materials prior to demolition.
  • Standard and Ultra-High Reach Machine Demolition: Utilising a range of demolition equipment, including ultra-high reach machinery for the taller structures, ensuring controlled and efficient dismantling.
  • Site Clearance: Comprehensive site clearance, including the removal of all debris and the preparation of the site for future development.
  • Concrete Crushing: 100% on-site crushing of concrete for reuse, minimising waste and transportation.
  • Strategically placed and fully engineered stock pile of crushed materials for the future development
  • Community Communication via regular newsletter deliveries, keeping our neighbours informed throughout the project.
