The current Ayr Academy was built in 1880 and the extensions were added circa 1939.

Dem-Master were appointed for the Demolition, Asbestos Removal and Site Clearance at the former Ayr Academy, Ayr.

The current Ayr Academy was built in 1880 and the extensions were added circa 1939.

The Main Block, which was over 4 stories (including lower ground floor level)  was constructed of reinforced pre-cast concrete box frame with infill walling comprising brickwork.  Upper floors and flat roofs construction were of pre-cast suspended concrete roof planks.  Roofs were covered with insulation, felt and tar.  Windows and doors were timber/alumimium single glazed.  Internal walls were generally plastered block work.

  • Processing of Arisings
  • Slab & Foundation Removal
  • Crushing
  • Backfill & Grade
  • Removal of Materials

Project Constraints and Solutions

Careful divorcing techniques were applied whilst separating the listed building from the extensions using hand deconstruction methods.
