Conveyor & Gantry to Granary Building, Leith Docks, Edinburgh
Appointed as Demolition contractor, Dem-Master were responsible for the Dismantling and Demolition of an overhead grain conveyor at Port of Leith, 1 Dock Place, Edinburgh, EH6 7DX.
The conveyor was a steel structure of approximately 270m in length supported on steel columns at intermediate centres.
The structure was clad with a combination of profiled metal sheets and asbestos cement panels.
The gantry lay within the Leith Docks adjacent to the quayside and cognisance was taken of the existing vessel which was currently berthed within the wider works area. Works were programmed to maintain safe access to the vessel and support generator prior to its relocation.
Prior to the commencement of the structural Demolition works all asbestos containing materials were removed.
On completion of the Demolition works, the site was cleared of all associated debris, and the steel columns cut flush with concrete plinths. No foundations / plinths were removed as part of these works. All Demolition arisings were removed from site for reuse.

• Guano Removal (Granary Access)
• Infill of Link to Granary Building
• Non-Notifiable Asbestos Removal
• Demolition Operation
• Demobilisation
The conveyor was linked to and located to the west of the Imperial Grain Warehouse which lay within a secured zone of the Port of Leith, Edinburgh.
Dem-Master carried out these works without disrupting the daily operations of the port. Our client was able to carry on business as usual during this project.
