Caldwell's Papermill Inverkeithing

Dem-Master were appointed this contract which involved the Demolition of an extensive interlinked disused factory / mill buildings, workshops and stores at the Former Caldwell Paper Mill, Inverkeithing.

This project required the complete site clearance of the former Caldwells Papermill facility using a combination of conventional remote Demolition technology and controlled explosive Demolition including complete site clearance and recycling of the Former Caldwell Paper Mill, Inverkeithing.

The site was located at the Former Papermill Complex of the seaward / lower sector of Inverkeithing.

The site was bounded by the Network Rail Line to the North and the banks of the Forth Estuary to the South which all had to be strategically managed to ensure minimum disturbance to wildlife with no environmental release into the Forth Estuary.

The works comprised the decommissioning, decontamination, dismantling and Demolition including controlled explosive Demolition and removal of all large industrial buildings including the twin 200 feet chimney structures.

The works also included machine Demolition of all buildings and structures on site to slab level.  After completion of the Demolition and clearance, all voids in the slab were filled and fully compacted to adjacent slab levels and trip hazards removed, including breaking out plinths and bunds.

The project was completed on programme and to budget with 98% of materials being recycled.
