The site was located within a heavily populated area in Laurieston, Glasgow.

There were commercial premises, offices and the Sheriff Court to the north of the block and residential units to the west and south.  There was also a theatre and further residential units to the east of the site.

The site was in close proximity to busy bus routes providing
access to the city centre, i.e. M8 & M74 motorways.

Exclusion zone boundary protection was erected around the block prior to the explosive Demolition and was formed with Heras Type fencing.

Our in-house Community Liaison Team worked closely with the local community and businesses including the
Procurator Fiscal’s Office, Sheriff Court, SPT and authorities. This ensured the required protection measures (IT systems at the Procurator Fiscals Office and Sheriff’s office, vibration monitoring of the SPT underground tunnels and a rolling road block) were in place resulting in minimal disruption to all during the operation.

Dem-Master provided a rest centre as temporary accommodation pre and post blowdown.  Residents were provided with food and drinks as well as being able to ask our dedicated liaison officers any questions.
