Iona Court Multi Storey Blocks, Govan, Glasgow
Dem-Master were employed, as Principal Contractor, by our client for the full Demolition and site clearance of 3 x 20 storey residential blocks in Govan, Glasgow.
This particular project was the first job for our R984 Liebherr Ultra-High Reach machine as these tower blocks demanded the specialist, Ultra-High Reach, innovative technology.
This type of project demanded a very high level of co-ordination and project management for the varying preparatory Demolition processes along with the integration of major machine structural Demolition works in an extensive residential area in the city centre site in Glasgow.
Dem-Master planned the structural Demolition through a very diverse combination of technical Demolition solutions demanding a very high degree of planning, co-ordination, awareness, expertise, management and supervision.
Project Constraints and Solutions
The liaison with the residents in this live residential area was extremely important.
Working around other occupied residential estates and adjacent commercial premises was also a major factor when tackling this large project. This required ongoing daily liaison between our supervision / management and the local Housing & Council representatives and employees particularly during the sensitive stages of the major sections of structural Demolition preparation.
Strategic road and traffic management within the area of Govan in Glasgow City was amongst many challenges faced.
It was paramount that Dem-Master had close liaison with our client, SPT and Utilities and Emergency Authorities for all arrangements before and during our works.
